Back to Europe

After months of planning, mainly by Kay, our trip back to Europe is finally underway. Following a long and tiring flight with subsequent train and subway rides, we make it to Genoa on the northern west coast of Italy. First things on our agenda were dinner and sleep.

Our overall plans are to spend about 2 weeks in Italy visiting Genoa, the Cinque Terre, Milan and Lake Como. Then it's onward to Istanbul for about five days after which we'll board a cruise ship headed for Greece, Croatia and back to Turkey.

We had just over a day in Genoa, an historic port city at the base of the Apennine Mountains, but it was enough time to wander the ancient streets and narrow corridors of the old city core despite persistent, and at times heavy thundershowers throughout the day. Unfortunately for us, it was Sunday so many of the businesses were closed except in the more popular tourist areas. We loved the antiquity of the city and found the food wonderfully tasty.

Below are various pictures around the city.
